            Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (International Program) emphasizes on self directed learning as well as the exchange of knowledge among the learner and resources both within and outside the country. The graduate from Ph.D. Program is expected to contribute the new knowledge significant to the discipline of nursing and gives the direction in building nursing theories to improve health and quality of life of the people. The graduates are also expected to be a highly qualified scholar who possesses ethical, moral characteristics and committed to the promotion of better life of the others.

Objectives

  1. effective nursing scholars with expertise and professional ethics;
  2. able to produce high quality and ethical scientific research that contributes to the advancement of nursing and health;
  3. able to provide creative guidelines to improve health and better life of people;
  4. able to demonstrate good human relationship and accountability;
  5. able to disseminate, transmit, and exchange knowledge and utilize technology effectively with others both nationally and internationally

 

 

 

 

Admission Requirements

  1. Candidate must hold a Master's degree in nursing with GPA no less than 3.50 on a 4.00 scale;
  2. Currently hold RN license in his or her own country;
  3. Pass English Proficiency Examination arranged by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, or other institutions certified by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, or have a TOEFL paper-based score at least 500, TOEFL computer-based score of 173, TOEFL internet-based score of 64, or IELTS score of 5.5;
  4. Candidate who holds a Master's degree in related fields should attend at least two courses in nursing (Nursing theory course and Advanced Clinical Nursing course) and presents the proof of attending those courses with the application;
  5. For those who were not required to conduct a thesis for completion of master's program, they must have research publication in peer-reviewed journals;
  6. Other exceptions may be considered by the Program Administrative Committee and the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Selection Method

  1. Pass written examination and/or interview arranged by the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
  2. Write a Statement of Professional Goals including, but not limited to, motivation for doctoral study, career goal and focus of doctoral research.
  3. Submit at least one example of their scholarly writing (published or unpublished). Example should demonstrate the conceptual as well as technical aspects of applicant's writing ability.
  4. Letters of recommendation from three persons knowledgeable about the applicant's potential for a research and scholarly work. (The first one is the employer, the second one was a former advisor).

Application Period of Admission

Applicants can apply for admission through out the year , but selection will be judged twice a year.

 

 

Curriculum Structure

The program is set according to the Ministry of Education Announcement entitled "Standard Criteria for Graduate Studies 2005" with specified Plan 2 curriculum as follows:

Financial Assistance:

For Thai students who dont receive scholarship from any institution may request scholarship from Mahidol University to decrease the Tuition fee from 9,000 Baht/credit but not less than 4,200 Baht. Scholarship from Mahidol University may be provided to some foreign students.
