Royal Archives of Queen Sri Savarindira and Royal Archives of Songkla-Princess Srinagarindra

HM Queen Sri Savarindira, the Queen Grandmother, HRH Prince Mahitala Dhibesra Adulyadej Vikrom, the Prince Father, and HRH Princess Sri Nagarindra, the Princess Mother graciously contributed to Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University and nursing of Thailand.

On the occasion of HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej granting money from Princess Srinagarindra Fund for the construction of Mahidol Adulyadej - Phra Sri Nagarindra Building, the Faculty of Nursing establishes “HM Queen Sri Savarindira Biography Hall and Their Royal Highnesses Prince Father and Princess Mother Biography Hall” as an appreciation of their royal contributions, a source of knowledge and transferring of the royal initiatives, together with gracious practices of all members of the royal family in order to be an example and an inspiration in leading the visitors’ lives.

HM Queen Sri Savarindira Biography Hall

The exhibition displays the biography, and the royal contribution on nursing, medicine and public health made by HM Queen Sri Savarindira, the Queen Grandmother.

HM Queen Sri Savarindira, the Queen Grandmother “The Upstream of Giving”

     
- Princess Savang Vadhana Biography The beginning of the zone displays the principles that HM Queen Sri Savarindira, the Queen Grandmother adhered to throughout her life. Then, it presents the early days of her life, from her birth until being the royal consort of King Rama V, including her seeking for knowledge.

     - Royal Love and CompassionThe zone exhibits the starting point of the Queen’s interest in medicine, nursing and public health, which happened when she relocated to the Sriracha royal resident, Chonburi Province. During the stay, she witnessed people’s sufferings due to sickness. Consequently, the Queen entrusted to establish a hospital and mobile health units as well.

     - Benevolent Activities The zone displays the royal contributions of HM Queen Sri Savarindira, the Queen Grandmother on nursing affairs. The audiences would appreciate her dedication and serious interest in this affair, which was like a strong foundation laying for Thai nursing. Moreover, the zone displays her other royal contributions which were to create the better quality of life for people.

     - Never-ending Dedication The zone displays the Queen’s biography and contributions on nursing, medicine and others in the final days of her life. These contributions apparently reveal that her royal graces continually lasted long until she passed away. Due to the Queen’s simple and beautiful behaviors, together with the contributions she continually made, she became a great example for the members of the royal family.

Their Royal Highnesses Prince Father and Princess Mother Biography Hall

The exhibition displays the biography, and the royal contribution of nursing, medicine and public health made by Their Royal Highnesses Prince Father and Princess Mother.

I. HRH Prince Mahitala Dhibesra Adulyadej Vikrom, the Prince Father “The Stream of Determination”

     - Prince Mahidol Aduldej Biography The zone displays the early days of the Prince Father’s life, from studying military and navy in Germany until his working as a government official in Ministry of Navy. Factors influencing the Prince’s thinking and identity which were later useful for countries are focused in this zone.

     - Resolute Intention The zone exhibits the significant turning point of the Prince Father that was when HRH Prince Chainat Narendhorn invited him to visit Siriraj Hospital. The Prince Father, at the time, saw shortage of the hospital that inspired him. He, thus, resigned from navy and then went to the USA for further study in medicine.

     - Royal Prince of all Thais The zone presents the Prince Father’s study on medicine and public health in the USA. Apart from hard-working and determination, his closely care for Thai students in the USA, especially giving scholarship to Thai physicians and nurses, is emphasized. Moreover, the meeting with the Princess Mother and their royal marriage are also displayed.

     - Prime Legacy The zone exhibits the dedication of the Prince Father for the benefit of Thai nursing and medicine by dividing the contents into two periods as follows:

                    1. Bringing the professional nursing to international standard presents the time the Prince Father stayed in Thailand for years. The audiences would understand why the Prince Father had to improve the nursing study, and also appreciate his royal graces for the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University and nursing affairs of Thailand.

                    2. “Prince Doctor” presents the time after he graduated medicine from the USA and came back to Thailand. He traveled to Chiang Mai Province for working as a doctor as he intended. Although it was not a long time, he worthily spent his final days so he was named “the Prince Doctor”.

     - Time of Sorrow The zone presents the Prince Father’s passing when he was only 38. Although he was sick for months, he usually worked because what he always kept in mind was every minute is worthiest.

II. HRH the Princess Mother “The Stream of Refreshing”

     - The Princess Mother Early Life The zone displays the early life of the Princess Mother, beginning with her birth, the acceptance as a second-level attendant to HRH Princess Valaya Alongkorn, until being a nursing student which is a milestone of her connection and royal graces with the Faculty of Nursing.

     - From Siriraj Nursing School to the New World Receiving the scholarship for nursing study in the USA is a major turning point of the Princess Mother’s life. Another important one is falling in love and marriage with the Prince Father. Not only a changing status, but also that she was taught by the Prince Father gracious behaviour, knowledge, thoughts, and principles for leading her life.

     - Beloved PrincessThis zone reveals the Princess Mother’s attention and ability to apply the nursing principles and nutrition to the Prince Father’s teachings in order to be the “housewife of Mahidol Family” flawlessly. She looked after her royal children perfectly although the Prince Father passed away.

     - Furthering the Royal Resolution The zone presents the Princess Mother’s royal graces and contributions related to nursing. Although Thai nursing at the time was very much improved, she still carried on her husband’s mission by expanding a scope of medical and nursing improvement to suburban and borders. The Princess Mother entrusted to establish Princess Mother's Medical Volunteer (PMMV) and made a great contribution to Border Patrol Police School.

     - Eternal Stream of Compassion The zone presents the final days of the Princess Mother’s life until her passing and a commemoration, including the resolutions and contributions on medicine, nursing and public health which are carried on by the members of the royal family.
