The organize online program “Mahidol FON / University of Michigan SON Winter 2022 – Virtual Exchange”


The Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, in cooperation with the School of Nursing, University of Michigan, jointly organize the online program “Mahidol FON / University of Michigan SON Winter 2022 – Virtual Exchange” for graduate students from both institutions. The program contains 4 meetings scheduled between February to April 2022, via Zoom Meetings. The program is assisted by the Faculty of Nursing’s Department of Surgical Nursing, and members of the Department jointly provide knowledge to participants throughout the program.

On February 25, 2022, the first meeting was arranged and led by Assistant Professor Dr. Thitipong Tankumpuan from the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, and Clinical Assistant Professor Dr. Ray Blush from the School of Nursing, University of Michigan. There was an introduction of the program as well as students’ educational and working backgrounds. In addition, Lecturer Dr. Rattima Sirihorachai from the Department of Surgical Nursing also joined the meeting to share information on the topic “APN Role in Thailand”.

This program has a purpose to increase students’ knowledge and understanding of different healthcare systems. Students will learn to compare and contrast community assessment data and will learn the cultures of different countries. Plus, students may be able to apply knowledge gained from this program to benefit in their works or to benefit others in the future.

The program consists of 12 international students from many countries such as Thailand, the USA, Myanmar, and Vietnam. From the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, there are three students including Miss Prampree Saelim, Miss Udsaneyaporn Pollayut, and Miss Kay Thi Hlaing, from the Master of Nursing Science Program (International Program).

From the collaboration of two leading universities, the program is considered as cooperation for sustainable development according to the Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) which supports global cooperation to foster sustainable development in research and health sciences.
