Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony between Faculty of Nursing and Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University and Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Public Company Limited or BDMS for Developing Specialty Program on Medical Genetics


On September 12, 2022, Associate Professor Dr. Yajai Sitthimongkol, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Mahidol University, and Professor Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, jointly signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Public Company Limited or BDMS. There were executives from each organization including Miss Poramaporn Prasarttong-Osoth, M.D., (Executive Committee and Chief Operating Officer of Bangkok Dusit Medical Services: BDMS), along with Mr. Narongrit Kalaput (Chief Executive Officer of Hospital Support Business Group 7.1), Mr. Buranut Limjitti (Senior Vice President - International Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations), Ms. Patcharin Boonyarungsun, Ph.D., (Director of Quality Management & Innovation, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services PCL), Associate Professor Visit Vamvanit, M.D., (Director of Siriraj Hospital), Professor Manop Pithukpakorn (Head of Siriraj Center of Research Excellence in Precision Medicine). In addition, academic staff from the Faculty of Nursing including Lecturer Dr. Kessiri Wongkongkam (Associate Dean for Academic Service and Social Engagement), and Associate Professor Dr. Acharaporn Seeherunwong (Chair for Genetic Counseling Course Development) also joined as witnesses.

The aims of this academic cooperation are for developing curricula and teaching management for a nursing specialty program in genetics counseling as well to exchange information and academic papers that will be useful for rising knowledge in Genomics Medicine. Besides, it supports cooperation in organizing training and study visits to develop knowledge and skills of nursing personnel specialized in the field of genetics counseling in order to advance the genetics medicine community in Thailand to be more recognized and accepted in the international level.
