The 126th Anniversary of the Faculty of Nursing Mahidol University (School of Nursing and Midwifery)


On January 12, 2023, on the occasion of the 126th anniversary of the Faculty of Nursing Mahidol University (School of Nursing and Midwifery), the Faculty of Nursing arranged the merit-making ceremony and food offerings to nine monks from Wat Rakhang Kositaram. Associate Professor Dr. Yajai Sitthimongkol, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, presided over the ceremony.

On this occasion, Assistant Professor Monsak Chuchotirot (Vice Director of Siriraj Hospital), Mrs. Chamaiporn Charoenkraikamol (Head of Department of Nursing Siriraj Hospital), Mrs. Puangthong Tanwongwan, (President of Siriraj Nurses’ Alumni Association), and Associate Professor Dr. Kobkul Pancharoenkul (Former Dean of the Faculty of Nursing), along with the Faculty of Nursing’s executive team and head of departments, participated in the event at the multipurpose area, Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, Bangkok Noi. Afterwards, Professor Banchong Mahaisavariya, M.D.. President of Mahidol University, delivered the speech on the topic ‘Nurses of the Land: Sustainably Driving Society’s Well-Beings Though SDGs’ for the 22nd Khunying Pinphak Phitthayaphet Speech Performance, via Zoom meeting and broadcasted on Facebook Live.

On January 12, 1896, Queen Saovabha Phongsri, Queen of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) of Siam Thailand established the first nursing and midwifery school (currently the Faculty of Nursing Mahidol University). For more than 126 years, this institution has continuously produced professional nurses for Thai society with a vision to be a leading educational institution in nursing at the national and international levels. Additionally, the Faculty of Nursing has a vision to be a leader in promoting well-being for society and has a mission to produce nursing graduates with professional competencies that respond to the health problems of Thai and global society, with a unique identity, having distinguished characteristics according to corporate values (NS MAHIDOL). Besides, the Faculty of Nursing produces researches that guide the health service system policies of the country and the South East Asia Region, and also create a new body of knowledge in nursing science to further provide academic services for building leaders in promoting well-being for Thai society in the future.
