The Closing Ceremony for the Workshop on "Caregivers of Dependent Elderly" at the Faculty of Nursing Dormitory Bang Khun Non, Bangkok


On September 20, 2024, the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, held the closing ceremony on "Caregivers of Dependent Elderly" for three groups at the Faculty of Nursing Dormitory Bang Khun Non, Bangkok. Associate Professor Dr.Ameporn Ratinthorn, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, presided over the ceremony and provided the certificates to all trainees. Associate Professor Dr. Yajai Sitthimongkol, Faculty Consultant of Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, along with Assistant Professor Dr. Weha Kasemsuk, Head of Department of Public Health Nursing, Lecturer Pokkrong Pongpattanapisit, Chair of the Project, and Associate Professor Dr.Saovaros Meekusol, Deputy Head of the Department of Public Health Nursing, and other faculty members from the department participated in the event. The project was supported by the Bangkok Noi District Health Security Fund. It aimed to equip caregivers with accurate knowledge and understanding of how to care for dependent elderly individuals. It also provided caregivers with the skills needed to assist elderly individuals in daily tasks, assess their condition, and provide initial emergency care in common situations among the elderly. Additionally, the program established a support network for consultation on elderly care, with special cases referred to the Nursing and Midwifery Clinic at the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University (Warm Community Nursing Clinic). This clinic, located at the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University Dormitory, Bang Khun Non, was established to increase access to services and reduce overcrowding in hospitals. It serves as a practical training ground for students, helping them develop expertise, while strengthening the primary healthcare system and providing reliable support to the community. This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.
