Today (November 25, 2024), the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, organized the orientation for Nursing Specialty Program in Nursing Care of Patients with Infectious Diseases and Infection Control Batch #53 (Group 2) with the aim to produce professional nurses skilled in managing epidemics. The training took place in Room 301 at the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, Bangkok Noi, with 31 participants attending. Assistant Professor Phichet Wongrot, Associate Dean for Academic Services and Policy Advocacy, delivered the opening remarks. A team of infectious disease experts, including Professor Emeritus Dr. Somwang Danchaivijitr, Consultant for Infectious Disease, Ms. Oraporn Damrongwattanakul, RN, Deputy Head of the Department of Nursing (Academic Unit), Siriraj Hospital, and Associate Professor Dr. Yong Rongrungruang, M.D., Consultant for Infectious Disease, jointly gave welcoming remarks to all trainees.
This course emphasized developing critical skills for providing comprehensive care to patients with infectious diseases, ranging from health assessment, infection surveillance, outbreak investigation, to clinical practice development. These skills will be applied to care for patients with complex infectious conditions. The program aligned with the strategic plan of the Faculty of Nursing for 2025-2028, particularly Strategy 2, which focused on creating nursing role models and networks to drive the transformation of the health system and improve public health. The ultimate goal is to enhance the quality of patient care and build a stronger infectious disease control system for the future.
