On September 8, 2025, at Bangkok Hospital (Headquarters), the Advanced Orthopedic Nursing Program (in collaboration with Bangkok Dusit Medical Services PCL) was officially launched. The program is a joint initiative between the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, and Bangkok Dusit Medical Services PCL (BDMS), with 50 participants attending the training.
At the opening ceremony, Associate Professor Weeraya Jungsomjatepaisal, Associate Dean for Administration, representing the Dean, welcomed the participants and emphasized the vision of the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, to create real world impact by producing highly skilled nursing professionals who can respond to the challenges of the healthcare system particularly in the care of orthopedic patients within an aging society and in managing complex disease burdens.
Assistant Professor Phichet Wongrot, Associate Dean for Academic Services and Social Policy Advocacy, and Chair of the Joint Training Committee, highlighted the significance of the program. The newly designed curriculum combines modern learning methods through a hybrid approach (online & onsite) and On-the-Job Training (OJT) to enhance both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in clinical settings. This approach ensures that advanced orthopedic nurses are well-prepared to manage complex patient care using new technologies in accordance with international standards. The first cohort of the Advanced Orthopedic Nursing Program is being trained at the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, and at BDMS facilities.
This training marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between nursing education institutions and leading private hospital networks, aiming to elevate the standards of Thai nursing, translate knowledge into practical application, and generate tangible value for patients, families, and the overall healthcare system in Thailand.
