125 Years of Compassion: Continuing the Legacy of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother” Mahidol University Faculty of Nursing Holds National Nurses Day 2025 Celebration Honoring Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother

On October 21, 2025, at the multipurpose courtyard of the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, the Faculty organized the National Nurses Day 2025 celebration under the theme “125 Years of Compassion: Continuing the Legacy of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother.” The event aimed to pay tribute to and express gratitude for the boundless benevolence of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother, who has been the guiding spirit and ultimate inspiration for all nursing professionals in Thailand. Throughout her lifetime, Her Royal Highness exemplified profound compassion and selfless dedication. She devoted herself to advancing medicine and public health, traveling to remote areas to personally visit and care for the people. She initiated mobile medical and nursing units to ensure equal access to healthcare services and played a pivotal role in elevating nursing and midwifery education to internationally recognized standards. Her gracious conduct reflected the essence of “giving with heart, selfless service, and compassion for humanity,” which remains the cornerstone of the nursing profession and continues to inspire Thai nurses to this day.

The event was co-organized by the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, in collaboration with the Nursing Division of Siriraj Hospital and the Siriraj Blood Donation Center. It featured a variety of public health and wellness activities, including basic health checkups, blood pressure and BMI assessments, mental health counseling for all age groups, CPR demonstrations, and basic first aid training for children. Other featured activities included “Understanding the Game, Understanding Your Child: Preventing Game Addiction,” “Healthy Aging and Dementia Prevention,” and traditional Thai massage for relaxation and well-being. In addition, a blood donation campaign was held throughout October as a royal merit-making activity to continue the Princess Mother’s mission of helping the sick and alleviating human suffering.

The event also served as an integration of teaching and learning for nursing students, with participation from faculty members, nursing personnel, volunteers, and nursing students who actively contributed to the success of the program. The activity aimed to cultivate compassion, altruism, and social responsibility—values that reflect the Faculty’s mission to nurture nurses with both professional excellence and a humanistic spirit.

Associate Professor Dr. Ameporn Ratinthorn, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University, expressed appreciation to all collaborating organizations and commended the collective efforts of faculty members, nursing staff, students, and volunteers in organizing this meaningful event, which embodies the Princess Mother’s enduring vision of improving the health and well-being of the Thai people.

The event atmosphere was warm and heartfelt, filled with inspiration and reverence for the “Compassion of the Princess Mother,” which continues to guide Thai nurses in upholding the noble ideal of “Caring with Heart” for the health and happiness of the people—now and always.
