Program Philosophy of Academic Year 2012

The Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University holds the belief that nursing profession does require both science and art in nursing practice in order to provide holistic care for health and well-being of all clients. The Bachelor of Nursing Science Program is intent to prepare students with academic qualifications and nursing practice skills by integrating knowledge, empirical evidence, social skills, and information technology skills as well as enhancing the characteristics of students in accordance with the identity of Mahidol University graduates. The outstanding characteristics of graduates of the Faculty of Nursing are “commitment to integrity, intellectual excellence, and contribution and creation of value to society” including possessing leadership skills, accountability, service minded, morals, ethics, and preservation of Thai culture through the teaching and learning processes of the Faculty of Nursing. The teaching and learning processes at the Faculty of Nursing focus on students’ learning outcomes, so that students learn and develop themselves continuously, possess nursing practice skills that align with professional standards, and have positive attitude towards the faculty and profession; thus, have an impact on the health care service delivery to promote health and well-being of Thai people in the society.

Curriculum Objectives of Academic Year 2012

In order to provide education in nursing science to meet academic and professional standards, the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University emphasizes on preparing graduates to have knowledge, skills, morals, and ethics in professional nursing practices in both theory and practice in nursing in accordance with the philosophy of higher education, Mahidol University, and Faculty of Nursing. After completing from the program, graduates should possess the following qualifications:

  1. Have nursing knowledge and knowledge of related sciences regarding holistic nursing practice for individuals, families, and communities with appropriate application.
  2. Have nursing practice in health promotion, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation through using nursing process, and integrating knowledge, research, empirical evidence, and information technology, including community way of life and cultural diversity.
  3. Have moral principles, ethics, responsibilities, and respect for human dignity.
  4. Have ability to analyze and synthesize systematically, be able to solve problems and make decisions in consideration to professional codes of conduct and related laws in nursing practice.
  5. Have leadership skills, creative thinking, innovative development, be eager to learn constantly, and be skillful in communication and work well with others.
  6. Have positive attitude towards oneself, institute, profession, and society. Be a good citizen and preserve Thai culture.
