Master of Nursing Science Program in Midwifery


Program Philosophy

The Master of Nursing Science program in Midwifery aims to produce graduates with advanced knowledge and skills, who demonstrate leadership in academic progress and modern technology. These graduates are equipped to provide care for women before pregnancy, during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, as well as for newborns. The program covers the full spectrum of normal pregnancies, high-risk cases, and complex conditions, ensuring holistic and continuous care according to international academic and professional standards. Graduates will be able to work in interdisciplinary teams, conduct research, and utilize evidence-based research to pioneer new knowledge independently. The program is learner-centered, fostering students' ability to acquire new knowledge, skills, and self-development. Graduates will also be skilled in advancing academic progress, integrating their expertise with other disciplines, and making informed decisions to solve problems and manage risks based on academic principles, ethics, and professional standards within relevant legal frameworks. The enhanced competencies will enable graduates to transfer knowledge and skills to others, contributing to the development of the profession and broader services, which will ultimately benefit the community and the nation.

Program Objectives

Upon completion of the program, graduates will possess the following qualities, in accordance with the standards for postgraduate qualifications:

  1. Demonstrate ethics and morality in both academic and professional fields of nursing and midwifery.
  2. Appropriately explain the principles, theories, and knowledge required for the care of women from pre-pregnancy through postpartum, including the care of newborns.
  3. Integrate knowledge and evidence-based practices in midwifery, and be capable of producing innovative research and developments in the field.
  4. Exhibit responsibility to themselves and society, demonstrate teamwork skills, leadership, and the ability to initiate beneficial changes for the advancement of the profession and society.
  5. Analyze, interpret, and manage numerical and statistical data for use in midwifery, effectively communicate with various groups within academic and professional fields, as well as with the general public, and use information technology appropriately.

Expected Learning Outcomes of the Programs

  1. Demonstrate the role of a midwife as the primary caregiver in the care of women during pregnancy through postpartum and newborn care in normal conditions, adhering to ethics, morality, and the legal and professional boundaries.
  2. Manage the care of women from pre-pregnancy to postpartum and newborn care in cases with complications or complex conditions.
  3. Produce research and innovations to improve midwifery quality, utilizing analytical skills in numerical data and information technology.
  4. Exhibit leadership in working as part of an interdisciplinary team, and communicate effectively in the management of care for women from pre-pregnancy through postpartum and newborn care.

Plan A2: Coursework + Thesis
The duration of the entire program is 2 years.
